DU 2022 Admission: BCom is far by the most popular program among candidates

DU 2022 Admission: BCom and BCom (Hons) courses at various universities represent 9 out of 10 university program combinations. To date, the largest number of applicants have enrolled of their own choice. Declaring their preferences for admission to undergraduate programs of University of Delhi.

As of Friday 7:00 p, 35,761 candidates have listed BCom at Ramjas College as one of their options, making it the most preferred combination to date. It was follow by BCom at Kirori Mal College with 35,7210 students. BCom at Sri Venkateswara College – 34,095; Delhi University of Arts and Commerce. Bachelor of Arts, 33,468; BCom(Hons) at Hansraj College – 31,434. BCom (Hons) at Shri Ram College of Commerce at 31,318. BCom (Hons) at Hindu College at 31,182; BCom at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College at 31,051; and B.A. (Hons) English at Hindu College at 31,018.

This number represents the total number of applicants who indicated a particular combination in their preference list. What they don’t say is where they appear on the applicant’s preference list. It doesn’t say how many students list combinations as the highest or lowest preference.

In an effort to help applicants , the right choice when listing their preferences. The University of Delhi has created an online dashboard where applicants can view the number of applicants applying for a particular program at their chosen university.

This preference list step in the admissions process is very important because the distribution of places. Among applicants is based on their stated preferences and their position on the merit list that DU issues based on their Common University Entrance Test (CUET) performance. Depending on their position on the merit list, the candidate will receive the highest priority on the list.

“The data upload does not discriminate between how high or low a combination is placed in a candidate’s list of preferences. It is all the total data on preferences available with us… We are trying to create new features to help candidates everyday, and are still working out what other information. Assistance we can provide the help them in this process,” said Dean (Admissions) Haneet Gandhi.

Not just in the top 10, the 20 combinations which have been listed the highest number of times features. B.Com at 16 different colleges including lesser known colleges such as Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Aryabhatta College, Motilal Nehru College. It also features B.Com (Honours) in Hansraj Collge, SRCC, Hindu College, Ramjas College and Kirori Mal College; and B.A. (Hons) English at Hindu College, Hansraj College and St. Stephen’s College. B.A. (Hons) Political Science at Hindu College has been list by 28,279 candidates, the highest apart from these three programmes, and 22nd in total number of times listed.
