Meaning of NCC
The NCC means National Cadet Corps. The Indian Armed Forces’ youth wing, the National Cadet Corps, is a Tri-Services Organization consisting of the Army, Navy, and Air Wing achieved to enlighten the country’s youths to be disciplined and patriotic nationals. New Delhi is the office of the NCC. It admits high school and college students willingly. Cadets are recruited from high schools, higher secondary schools, universities, and associations throughout the country. During their period at NCC, the Cadets get essential military activity. Officials and cadets, on the other hand, are not needed to conform to the military once they have completed their training. During the 1965 and 1971 disputes, NCC cadets performed as the beat line of defence. The NCC installed camps to help ordnance manufacturers in distributing weapons and ammunition to the front lines. To understand enemy paratroopers, NCC patrol troops were employed. Civil defence officers also functioned with the NCC cadets. They were also energetically active in recovery and traffic control action.
History of NCC
It was first commenced in Germany in 1666.In the early 1940s, Pandit Hradaya Nath Kunjru recommended establishing a cadet organization in schools and colleges at the National Level in the country.It came into force in India on 15 July 1948 after the National Cadet Corps Act was approved by the then Governor General.The history of NCC was prosperous . Brigadier M. L. Rawat in 1948, the year Indian independence was announced by the British Empire, organized the first form of NCC. Defence Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel granted him the title of ‘father of NCC’.In 1948, the Girl Division of NCC was inaugurated to furnish equal options to school and university-going girls.In 1950, the Air Wing was put in and in 1952, the Naval Wing was added to NCC. The Sino-Indian War in 1962 made NCC training compulsory. In 1968, it again became optional. In the 1965 Indo-Pakistan war and the 1971 Bangladesh-Pakistan war, NCC cadets attended to as the second line of defence
NCC Curriculum
After the year 1971, the NCC curriculum was modified. The NCC curriculum was reworked to concentrate on formulating leadership and officer-like qualities. The NCC syllabus was edited after the year 1971. The military training of NCC cadets also decreased.The curriculum of NCC was revised after 1971 to focus on developing leadership and officer-like qualities, rather than just military training as before.NCC cadets served as the second line of defence throughout the 1965 and 1971 wars.The new NCC curriculum set a stronger priority on formulating leadership and officer-like qualities. The quantity of military training received by NCC cadets also decreased. Social assistance and youth leadership were allotted higher importance.
Achievements of NCC
The catchphrase of the NCC is “Unity and Discipline” and it is infused in its fellows through an oath taken upon entering. The NCC stays apolitical and concentrates on the growth of personality and leadership mastery through military drills, ceremonies, adventure training, and social assistance projects. During the battle time, NCC cadets can be summoned up to administer with the troops under a particular agreement between the Ministry of Defence and state governments. Before attaining independence in 1947, India faced border conflicts with China and Pakistan. These conflicts have overseen a series of localized disputes involving the usage of Indian armed forces. The NCC has been utilized as an effective line for supplying arms to the armed forces and for carrying out national defence practice drills for its fellows.To assist ordnance companies in supplying weapons and ammunition to the front lines, the NCC established camps.Enemy paratroopers were apprehended using NCC patrol parties.The NCC cadets collaborated with civil defense authorities as well.Additionally, they were actively participating in traffic control and rescue operations.
Tagline of NCC
The NCC’s tagline was initially introduced at the 11th central advisory session (CAC) on August 11, 1978. The most common beliefs were “Duty and Discipline,” “Duty, Unity, and Discipline,” “Duty and Unity,” “Unity and Discipline,” and “Unity and Discipline.” Finally, on October 12, 1980, NCC’s motto was chosen as the“Unity and Discipline” .It brings together youth from all areas of the nation. It carries on the duty of moulding the public into nationwide residents who are united and disciplined.
Composition of Directorate General NCC
It is led by the Director General (DG), a Lieutenant General-level Army officer. The DG is assisted by two Additional Directors General (ADG), one an Army Major General and the other a Navy Rear Admiral or Air Vice Marshal from the Air Force. The Director General has a team that is brought out from the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force. There are five Deputy Directors General (DD’sG).
NCC Flag
The current NCC flag was put forward in 1954. Red, dark blue, and light blue are three colors of Flag.These colors are used to depict the three services of Corps . Red represents the service of Army, deep blue represents the service of Navy, and light blue represents the service of Air Force. In the middle, it has three letters NCC surrounded by a garland of lotus.
