Coming straight from Tamil Nadu, this scheme is launched for various categories to provide financial assistance to residents of Tamil Nadu for a better living standard and lead a good life. This scheme came into life for girls, to help them complete their education. A scheme introduced by the Tamil Nadu government named the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance scheme aimed to increase the ratio rate of girl enrollment in government schools and Higher education institutions.
The Pudhumai Penn Scheme comes under the MRA Higher Education Assurance scheme and plays the role of handling the new registrations of students. It provides monetary assistance to young women and girls who are enrolled in government institutes. It also focuses on assuring the well-being of female students and motivates them to study ahead. Apart from this, it helps with financial assistance to such families who cannot afford to make their daughters study due to very weak economic conditions.
It was launched on 5th September 2022 and benefitted girls who study in government institutes with a monetary benefit of Rs. 1000 per month. The application process can be easily done from the schools and colleges or the official website – https://www.pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in/.
Am I eligible to avail of the scheme?
- You have to be a citizen of Tamil Nadu.
- You have to be a student of any government institute.
- You have to be studying in 6th-12th standard.
- You have to be a female.
How can I Apply Online?
Tamil Nadu government made it very easy by providing the facility to apply under this scheme through their educational institute. They also hold a camp for girl students on 11th November 2022 in every government institute of Tamil Nadu for registrations. All you had to do was submit the details with the documents for completing the registration process.
Apart from this, if you missed the offline chance, you can also apply online by yourself or by taking help from your school/college.
The steps for Online registration are as follows –
Step 1) Visit – https://www.pudhumaipenn.tn.gov.in/
Step 2) Click on the institute or college tab
Step 3) Now enter the ID and passcode of the institute (that can be attained from the principal) and click on “Login”
Step 4) Fill in the details of the candidate
Step 5) At last apply with all required documents.

For completing the registration process, candidates need to attach certain documents to support their application which includes –
Transfer certificate
Parent or guardian’s mobile number
Residential proof
Aadhar card or voter ID
Do I get any benefits?
Tamil Nadu government’s Pudhumai Penn scheme will provide financial help of Rs.1000 per month to the girl students of class 6th – 12th in government institutes until they complete their studies of college too. The amount will directly be disbursed to the student’s bank account.
