Delhi University’s most awaited election are on the way. Earlier DU released the list of appointed office bearers of the union for 2024-25 elections. Now, on Monday, September 9, 2024 DU released the schedule on its office website du.ac.in to conduct the Delhi University Student’s Union (DUSU) elections for 2024. The DUSU elections are planned to take place on September 27, 2024. Students from numerous colleges of Delhi University will participate in voting their representatives.
Candidates can submit their nomination by September 17, 2024 and the final list of selected candidates will be declared by 5 pm on September 18, 2024. Candidates need to submit their nomination papers at the office of Chief Election Officer Mr. Satyapal Singh, office located in North Campus. Candidates can withdraw their nomination by 12 noon on September 18, 2024.
The voting of the DUSU election 2024-25 will conduct in two shifts. For morning students, the time allotted is 8:30 am to 1 pm and for students of evening shift voting will be from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. Result for the same will be announced on September 28, 2024.
There are several code of conduct declared by DU through its notice which candidates needs to approve if the wants to contest election. Candidate needs to be the regular student enrolled in a full time course in the institutions of the University. There is also an age range for UG and PG course students to take part in the election, age between 17 to 22 years for UG candidates and for PG candidates maximum age limit should be 25 years. The candidates should have attained at least 75% of attendance to get eligible to contest elections. No corrupt practices of nominated candidates should be encouraged by the DU Election Officer such as bribing the voters and intimidating them etc.
The contesting candidates can submit an electoral speech in a video clipping of not more than ten minutes to the office of Chief Election Officer latest by September 19, 2024. The video clipping would be approved by the Chief Election Officer before uploading it in the DU website. Also candidates can use social media which would be available at free of cost rather than paper for campaigning.
Last year DUSU election were won by the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), secured three out of four key positions. one seat was won by National Students’ Union of India (NSUI).
The main objectives of the student’s union is to promote mutual contact and to increase the spirit of oneness amongst the Delhi University’s students. Also to promote harmonious relations among al sections of the University Community.
