All You Need to Know about the Foreign Language Courses in DU

Apart from the regular courses that witnesses lakhs of applicants each year, Delhi University also offers bachelors in foreign languages that many are unaware of. Language programs like Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese and French are also offered by DU by the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies. The total number of seats in each of the courses provided by the department is 41.

Just like other courses, admission to these programs is also done through the merit basis of matching the percentage against the cut-off lists which will be announced later.

Admission to these courses doesn’t require necessarily to have studied the language, but the student will suffer a disadvantage of 5% if he/she has not studied the chosen language before.

Foreign Language Courses in DUThe cut-off for these courses varies in the bracket of 80-95%. DU is the only university in the country to provide Bachelors in (Hons.) in Italian. Not only the Bachelor courses but the students can pursue higher studies also as the university also offers Masters, M Phil and PhD in these languages.

Not only this, but there are certain diploma, certificate and advanced diploma courses as well with the duration of one year being offered by certain colleges in both North and South Campus.
